Audition Requirements and Dates

All applicants for instrumental study as a music major or minor must demonstrate acceptable proficiency in an audition on a major instrument or voice before an examining committee. If you wish to take lessons without passing an entrance audition, you may sign up for MUSI 1700 or MUSI 3700. Details are at http://www.music.uga.edu/lessons/

The last audition date for instrumental study in spring 2012 is Thursday, January 5, 2012 (1:00-3:00). To schedule an audition on another date, contact the applied professor for your instrument.

The audition dates for instrumental study in fall 2012 are:

Saturday, January 14, 2012: saxophones

Friday, January 20, 2012 (no saxophones)

Saturday, January 21, 2012 (no saxophones)

Saturday, February 11, 2012: piano and voice only

Saturday, February 18, 2012: no clarinets, piano, or voice

Saturday, February 25, 2012: clarinets

Saturday, March 24, 2012: not for scholarship consideration

At the time of audition the following should have been submitted to the School of Music Undergraduate Office:

* completed School of Music application

* minimum of one letter of recommendation

* résumé

Application to the University of Georgia must be completed by the postmark deadline of January 15.
