Graduate Admissions

Education Specialist: Music Education

General Admission Requirements

Applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree in music from an institution accredited by the proper regional accrediting association, or, in the judgment of the School of Music Faculty, have equivalent competencies. Applicants should have attained a grade point average of 3.0 or better for all undergraduate work and achieved satisfactory scores on the degree-appropriate entrance examinations.

Scores on the verbal and quantitative sections of the General Test of the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) are required for admission as a prospective candidate for most graduate degrees. The Miller Analogies Test (MAT) may be used in lieu of scores on the GRE for admission to the MMED, EdS, and EdD degree programs.

Your admissions application is reviewed jointly by Graduate Admissions and the Hugh Hodgson School of Music. Part of your materials should be sent to Graduate Admissions and part to the School of Music:
