Academics

The University of Georgia Hugh Hodgson School of Music offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs. Undergraduate programs include the Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in music or interdisciplinary fields and the Bachelor of Music degree with majors in composition, music education, music therapy, theory, or performance. The School also sponsors an annual study abroad program in Italy that is open to all majors. Programs designed for the non-music major include a minor in music at the undergraduate level and a certificate program in music business, as well as opportunities to participate in numerous courses and ensembles.

Graduate offerings include the Master of Arts, Master of Music, Master of Music Education, Education Specialist, Doctor of Education, Doctor of Musical Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees.

Within the various programs majors are offered in performance, conducting, music composition, music literature, musicology/ethnomusicology, and music education.

Scholarships at the undergraduate level and assistantships at the graduate level are available. Application for these may be made on this website under Admissions.
