The newest orchestral ensemble at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music is the University Sinfonia, an full orchestra designed to engage all musically-inolved UGA students.
Approximately 45 players make up the Sinfonia, which specializes in appropriate orchestral literature drawn from all stylistic period, including works featuring Hodgson School soloists. The ensemble also serves pit orchestra for a fully staged opera production once yearly, in collaboration with the school’s Opera Theater and the University of Georgia School of Drama.
The UGA Chamber Music Society is a student run organization designed to help undergraduate students of all majors continue their passion for music by forming music ensembles and performing throughout the community. This is accomplished by providing students a platform to gain invaluable performance experience and also share live music to the Athens community, performing in such venues as retirement homes, hospitals, weddings, receptions, cocktail hours, and holiday festivities.

Comprised of Professor David Zerkel's students, the UGA Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble is a performance opportunity for graduate and undergraduate low brass students to play challenging music for their instrument while receiving class credit. The ensemble, which meets three times weekly, performs literature including serious original compositions for tuba ensemble, transcriptions of orchestral literature, and lighter arrangements. Much of the music presents technical challenges that students may not encounter in their other performing organizations.
With more than sixty trumpeters studying on campus, the University of Georgia Trumpet Ensemble is able to draw upon a vast pool of majors and non-majors to fill out its roster, and as such remains a thriving aspect of musical life at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music. The group has performed twice at the annual convention of the International Trumpet Guild, premiering two works for six trumpets, performing prelude concerts, and opening a Allen Vizutti's performance at the 1993 ITG conference (Maryland).
