Under the leadership of director Thomas McCutchen, the UGA Percussion Ensemble has gained notoriety in the collegiate percussion community. The UGA Percussion Ensemble's performances include concerts throughout the Southeast, numerous appearances at Georgia Music Educator's Association state conventions, appearances at "Day of Percussion" programs, and the Second Thursday Concert Series, the subscription concert series of the University of Georgia. The percussion ensemble has been charged with world premieres of several important new works, including some commissioned in part by the percussion studio. These include Song of Middle Earth by Daniel McCarthy, performed by Michael Burritt and the UGA Percussion Ensemble.
