The Saxophone Ensemble Program provides an opportunity for every student to study chamber music of various styles at the most challenging musical levels. The program includes the UGA Saxophone Orchestra, four to six saxophone quartets, and various other chamber groups.
The Orchestra is the largest of the ensembles, involving all the students in the studio performing on sopranino, soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, and bass saxophones. Repertoire includes the best of both original and transcribed literature for Saxophone Orchestra.
The numerous UGA Saxophone Quartets present concerts both on and off campus and have received invitations to appear at meetings of the North American Saxophone Alliance, the World Saxophone Congress, and the Navy Band International Saxophone Symposium. The quartets perform both original and transcribed literature and have inspired several composers to write new works for the genre.
The Saxophone Ensemble Program is under the direction of Kenneth Fischer.
