Men's Glee Club

bara_photo_120The Men's Glee Club, the oldest musical ensemble on campus, is preparing to celebrate its 120th anniversary season in 2011-2012, and is open to all UGA men (based on an informal placement audition during the first rehearsals of the semester). The 80-voice ensemble concentrates on literature for male voices from all periods of music history, sacred and secular, serious and light.

For more than 115 years, a large and passionate campus-wide membership in the UGA Men's Glee Club has continued to be a vital indicator of UGA school spirit, fraternal conviviality, and refined male choral artistry. UGA men are encouraged to the make the UGA Men's Glee Club an integral and fun part of their academic, artistic and social lives while on campus.

Director of Choral Activities, Dr. Daniel Bara, began his conducting career working primarily with male voice choirs at the prestigious Hill School in Pottstown, Pa. He has conducted his own men's choirs and other TTBB honor choirs at professional conferences, including the East Coast Regional convention of MENC in NYC (1999) and the Texas All-State Men's Chorus (2010).
