The University of Georgia’s Hodgson Wind Ensemble invites you to share your love of music in a Valentine’s Day program: Fireworks & Serenades.  The concert takes place in Hodgson Hall on Thursday, February 14 at 7:30 p.m.

Joining the Wind Ensemble are William F. and Pamela P. Prokasy Professor in the Arts Philip Smith, trumpet, and Sheila Smith, soprano, who will perform music of George and Ira Gershwin.  Reid Messich, Associate Professor of Oboe, is featured in Frank Ticheli’s Serenade for Kristin.  Wind band works by Stravinksy, Sousa, Cuong, Gillingham, and Denza round out the concert.

In addition to the music, a special Valentine’s Day Photo Booth, sponsored by the sisters of Sigma Alpha Iota, will be in the lobby before and after the concert.  You can commemorate your concert visit in a photo with your significant other, family, or with a musician performing that night!  “The Hodgson Wind Ensemble and guests are ready to serenade, and fireworks are guaranteed!” said conductor Dr. Cynthia Johnston Turner, UGA Director of Bands.
