Super Bowl Score

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

From an article on Steve Dancz’s very successful pre-Super Bowl film:

Dancz hopes his score will continue to make an impact after the credits roll on the film. After the game, iTunes users can download “Declaration Anthem,” and the proceeds will go to the Wounded Warriors Project.

“There have been 40,000 soldiers injured in our present conflicts, so a lot of help needs to be given,” Dancz said. “The Wounded Warriors Project is doing amazing work. It was kind of a light bulb moment to help them.”

Us, too.

The film can be seen here.

The Declaration of Independence, a film created for broadcast before Super Bowl XLV on Feb. 6, features a score by Steve Dancz, director of the UGA Jazz Studies program in the Hugh Hodgson School of Music. The score, highlighted by master’s student Chuck Arnold as trumpet soloist, will be released on iTunes this week as “Declaration Anthem.” Alumnus Ben Leathers served as an assistant to Dancz on the composition. “The Declaration of Independence” also features an introduction and perspective from retired Army Gen. Colin Powell and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and includes current and former NFL players reading excerpts from the Declaration of Independence, with participants chosen for their extraordinary service to team and country.

Declaration Anthem” is available on iTunes and Amazon, (also as a ringtone), with a portion of all proceeds to benefit The Wounded Warrior Project, a charity for wounded veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces : www.woundedwarriorproject.org
