While much of the faculty of the Hodgson School goes down to Savannah this week for the GMEA conference to connect with colleagues, alumni and future students, it's a good time to mention the eminent return of a Hodgson School alumni.  Broadway star Tituss Burgess, a graduate of Cedar Shoals High School as well as UGA, returns to Athens on Feb. 13 to kick-off the Morton Theatre's Centennial Celebration.

Tituss Burgess…One Night Only! February 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Historic Morton Theatre in downtown Athens.

Burgess' recent roles include Nicely Nicely Johnson in the new Broadway revival of Guys and Dolls. He originated the role of Sebastian the Crab in Disney's The Little Mermaid, as well as original Broadway cast roles in Jersey Boys and Good Vibrations. Regionally he was seen in The Wiz as the Cowardly Lion in La Jolla, and Songs For A New World with Jason Robert Brown, Brian D'arcy James, and Alice Ripley. He played Father in Children of Eden, Jim in Big River, and a host of other roles. In the concert world, Tituss has served as soloist with the Prague Symphony Orchestra and for Academy Award Winner Ennio Morricone. His television credits include The 2009 Tony Awards, The View, The Today Show, Good Morning America, and Late Night with David Letterman.
