You must apply to the School of Music before you can audition. For details, please review the Undergraduate Music Admissions Overview. We recommend submitting your School of Music application at least a month prior to your preferred audition date. 

Spring 2023 Applicants: Please contact Music Admissions before you apply to start in a spring semester. We must verify studio space before an audition can be scheduled. The deadline to apply for Spring 2023 is November 1 for voice, and December 1 for all other areas. Spring 2023 auditions must occur before December 15

Fall 2023 Applicants: Undergraduate Audition Dates (for scholarship consideration)

  • Friday, January 20, 2023 (no bassoon, clarinet, oboe, piano, or strings)**
  • Saturday, January 28, 2023 (all areas - no tuba/euphonium)
  • Saturday, February 4, 2023 (all areas - no oboe or trumpet)**

*Music Minor in Jazz applicants should select "Distance Audition" to submit their audition with recorded materials.

**Oboe applicants who cannot audition on Saturday, January 28 should contact Dr. Reid Messich to schedule an alternate audition date. Alternate oboe audition dates will take place on Saturday, January 14 and Saturday, February 11. Please email Dr. Messich your preference if you cannot attend on Saturday, January 28. 

***Guitar applicants should contact Dr. Daniel Bolshoy to schedule their audition separately. 
***Double Bass applicants should contact Dr. Milton Masciadri to schedule their audition separately.

Applications for Fall 2023 are currently being accepted.

Please be sure that you also carefully review the Graduate Admissions Overview.

Applicants in Performance should provide the audition committee with a list of major applied teachers, samples of programs performed, and a summary of literature studied. One of the letters of recommendation should be from the most recent applied instructor.

For pre-screening information or other special requirements specific to your desired degree, please select your performance area from the list below.  Applicants who are not required to submit for pre-screening must contact the appropriate area chair to secure a date for a live audition.
