Types of Instruction

The arts are an indispensable need not only for the education of children but also for the enrichment and quality of life of adults.  CMS strives to create a variety of classes and programs to involve students of all ages and abilities in an affordable, professional, but relaxed environment.

PRIVATE INSTRUCTION:  Students of all ages and levels of ability can choose to take private lessons on classical (strings, winds, percussion, piano, guitar, brass), folk (banjo, mandolin, ukulele, guitar, bass), and popular (electric guitar and bass, drum set) instruments.   See our 'Suzuki Method', 'Keyboard Kids', and 'Private Instruction' pages from the menu on the right for more information.  Instruction is available in classical, folk, and popular styles.  UGA undergraduate students who may be interested in receiving private lessons for academic credit, please visit music.uga.edu/lessons for more information.

ADULT CLASSES: CMS offers a variety of beginning, intermediate, and advanced-level classes for adults.  See our Adult Classes page for more information.

ENSEMBLES:  New Horizons ensembles provide entrance opportunities for adults over 50 regardless of prior musical experience.  Beginners are welcome, as well as more experienced players.  CMS has a New Horizons String Ensemble, New Horizons Band, and New Horizons Piano classes.

CMS also has String Chamber Music ensembles for students of all ages and ability levels.  See our Chamber Music page for more details.
