The program will feature Eugene Bozza’s Sonatine, but with a wonderful story of Phillipe the Penguin! This story is written by Dorian Rence and illustrated by Marion Schoevaert. Tony will also narrate Anthony Plog’s Animal Ditties, with wonderful illustrations by our own Dr. Craswell’s little Hadleigh.

Rounding out this fun-filled program will be Dr. James Naigus’ sparkling new quintet, Cyclone, as well as Andre Previn’s unique Four Outings for Brass. In case it rains, come anyway and hear April Showers as arranged by Robert Elkjer.

Hugh Hodgson School of Music faculty with a guest artist from the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will perform a free Chamber Music concert featuring works by Brahms and Dohnanyi. 

UGA faculty members Michael Heald (violin), Maggie Snyder (viola), David Starkweather (cello), and Alan Woo (piano) are joined by ASO First Violinist Kenn Wagner in Brahms' String Quartet No.1 and Dohnanyi's wonderful Piano Quintet No.1.

An evening filled with drama, emotion, warmth, lyricism, and more, this event will be held in the internationally acclaimed Performing Arts Center.

Lauded in the New York Times for her “admirable fluidity,” soprano Amy Petrongelli’s diverse performance career wholeheartedly embraces both traditional and contemporary repertoire. In 2020, Amy was honored with an Professional Achievement Award from the University of Michigan for her significant contributions to the field of music performance. 

Jared Holton teaches Ethnomusicology and Musicology classes at UGA. He holds a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology from the University of California in Santa Barbara (2022). As a pianist, vocalist, and Arabic ‘ud (lute) performer, he approaches teaching and research as a musician. His current research explores the musical modes of North Africa and how the theory and practice of these modes relate to non-musical associations, such as the body, nonhuman beings, and identity.

Jennifer Denk Stull, MM, LPMT, MT-BC is an Assistant Professor of Music Therapy. She received her M.M. in Music Therapy (2020) and B.M. in Music Therapy (2010) from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. 

Her research and teaching interests include music therapy with older adults, and exploring music therapy as psychosocial support for long-term caregivers. Professor Stull has presented her work at local, regional, and national music therapy conferences. 

Sally Ann Nichols, MM, MT-BC is an Academic Professional / Clinical Supervisor in Music Therapy. She received her M.M. from Florida State University (2018) and B.M. from Belmont University (2016). She has advanced training in neurologic music therapy (NMT-F) and neonatal intensive care unit music therapy (NICU-MT).

Students in the Hugh Hodgson School of Music Saxophone Studio have been busy, and their hard work and professionalism has gotten them national recognition. Mixed Media saxophone quartet was awarded the Gold Medal in the senior wind division of the 49th Annual Fischoff Competition, held at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN on May 20-22, 2022.
