Michael C. Robinson

Michael C. Robinson serves as Professor of Music Education at the University of Georgia. His duties include teaching courses in instrumental music education, conducting, and as Director of the UGA Symphonic Band. Robinson previously served for eleven years as the Director of The Sudler Trophy Award winning UGA Redcoat Marching Band. A native of Florida, Robinson received B.M. and M.M. degrees in Music Education and a D.M.A. degree in Instrumental Conducting from the University of Miami.

Joshua Bynum

Hailed for his “inspiring energy, clear musical conviction, and warm lyrical tone” (International Trombone Association Journal), Josh Bynum keeps an active schedule balancing roles as educator, soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral trombonist.

Stephen Fischer

Stephen Fischer serves as the director for the University of Georgia Hugh Hodgson School of Music Community Music School, Summer Music Camps, and Outreach Administrator. A graduate of the University of Georgia, he earned a Bachelor of Music degree in music education and a Masters degree and DMA in saxophone performance.  

Brett Bawcum

Brett Bawcum is Assistant Director of Bands and Director of Athletic Bands at the University of Georgia. He shares responsibility for design, instruction, and administration of the Redcoat Marching Band and serves as its primary drill-writer. He also directs the Basketball and Volleyball Pep Bands, conducts various concert bands, and teaches courses in a variety of areas including Instrumentation/Arranging and Marching Band Techniques.

Monica Hargrave

 

Monica Hargrave holds a Bachelor of Music degree in harp performance from the Indiana University School of Music and a Master of Arts degree in music from the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia. She has made radio appearances on Talk Back Atlanta, and television appearances for Good Day Atlanta. Monica has three CD recordings, Divine Time, Divine Season, and Harp to Heart

Anatoly Sheludyakov

A native of Moscow, Anatoly Sheludyakov graduated from the Gnesin's Musical Academy and completed doctoral studies there under professor Anatoly Vedernikov. He also graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in the composition class of Tikhon Khrennikov. His compositions include Variations for Orchestra, Ostinato for Orchestra, Suite for Oboe and Piano, Suite for Violin and Piano, the cantata Brotherhood Songs, Trombone Quartet, six vocal suites, and many other compositions.

Brian Wesolowski

Brian Wesolowski is a Professor of Music Education at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music. His teaching focuses on graduate music education, including quantitative research design, assessment, and policy in education and music, educational measurement, and statistical programming. His primary research interests include the psychometric and cognitive study of rater behavior in the context of formal adjudicated events, as well as scale development, educational assessment policy, and the broad applications of assessment, measurement, and evaluation in large-scale testing and classroom contexts.

Hodgson Wind Ensemble opens its season and invites you to Dance!

Let's Dance!, the Hodgson Wind Ensemble's first performance of the 2019-20 season is a fun, uplifting, celebration of dance from a variety of cultures and contexts. Come stomp your feet to dance tunes from Cajun to Krumping and join us in the "Tweet Seats" to interact with the music in real time! 

 

Greenway’s East Campus Connector Ribbon Cutting Planned

(ATHENS, GA) The Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department will host a ribbon cutting ceremony and open the next phase of the North Oconee River Greenway Trail System on Thursday, September 5 at 5:00 p.m.    

The public is invited to attend and assemble at the East Campus Connector Bridge.  Free parking is available at the nearby UGA Park & Ride lot (E23) located off College Station Road on North Oconee River Access Road.

UGA Symphony Orchestra Kicks-off New Season

The University of Georgia’s Symphony Orchestra, the Hugh Hodgson School of Music’s premiere orchestra ensemble, will begin the new season with an exciting performance on the newly renovated Hodgson Hall stage. Students will take their chairs to perform challenging repertoire on September 5thin the opening concert of the 2019-2020 Thursday Scholarship Series Season.
